It is very widely used by musicians during the rebetiko songs recordings. It was the instrument of Markos Vamvakaris, Vasilis Tsitsanis, Giannis Papaioannou and many more greek composers and solists. It has 3 pairs of steel strings and it is tuned D-A-D.
